AU Texas comes from an alternate Motorcity where a majority of the populace has been infected with a body- and mind-alerting virus. Hosts are transformed into mutinous creatures with very little in mind beyond sating basic, carnal desires. The virus originated with the Terra Dwellers as a form of biological warfare, but it wasn't long before samples were collected by KaneCo to finish what the Terra Dwellers started. As a result Motorcity was infiltrated by virus-transporting spores and has mostly fallen apart.
Physically, the virus grants its host enhanced speed, strength and heightened senses along with sharp teeth and claws to transform the infected into a deadly predator over time. Meanwhile, it eats away the host's brain leading to destabilization and violent behavior. It has the ability to turn a sweet, friendly (albeit somewhat ditzy and arrogant) guy like Texas into a monster.
His mentality is constantly shifting. Sometimes he acts like his usual self and tries to be a good Burner, but it takes only seconds for him to snap and become something else. He's liable to do anything in this state and is especially obsessed with candy... More specifically, he mistakes random people for "candy monsters" who are out to eat him and his friends, and he's appointed himself as the only one who can stop them. Texas is largely unaware of when it happens and often has no memory of what he does when his mind shifts into that corrupted state. All he knows, after the fact, is that he's done something bad and feels guilty.
